We recently aquired two hens (already laying) and here are our first-ever-but-don't-quite-count eggs!

But the new hens seemed to have goaded my freeloaders into action! Sunday we had 3 eggs in a four-hour period! The mystery layer is still on the loose, but I noticed my little OEGB was looking rough around the edges. She looked like she was smuggling a grapefruit under her skirt.

Sure enough, here is my first "OFFICIAL" egg. I found it Monday after work:

I figured the big kids would go first (they are 4 weeks older) but goodness, she looked...violated.

Where oh where did you get that mat? Nevermind the eggs, I want that mat!

Ok, now to the eggs. Congrats! (said with LOTS of enthusiasm) And your pullet is beautiful.

Now, back to the mat!

I saw that very mat at Changing Hands Bookstore a couple of days ago. . . . Tempe. . . McClintock and Guadalupe. . . southwest corner

could we please focus on the awesomeness that is my first egg?!!

The first egg is wonderful, and so are the ones to follow. It doesn't wear off as soon as you would think it does. I am still happy to find eggs...even though I am expecting them.
I am kinda sorry for your sweet little hen. She does look ruffled. After a few days she'll settle in. Give her a treat for her effort!
And super big congratulations on the first egg!
