my first egg-- yipee!!

I got my very first egg on Saturday from Ester, my 6mo. old barred rock. She laid a second one on Sunday morning. Here are some pictures. I am so so so excited!!!

Here is a picture of her egg in the nest box. The one on the left and the middle are fake ceramic eggs I put in the nest box to show my girls where to lay. The one on the right is Ester's egg.

Here is a picture of Ester's egg, on the bottom, compared to a store bought grade A large egg.

And here is Ester, at 8 weeks of age when I got her in July

Wow-- since laying her first egg on Saturday Ester has laid an egg a day. Even though its not the first, its still so exciting to open up that nest box and find an egg.

Ester is a cutie...I love my barred rocks! One of mine is laying monster eggs. No kidding they are more than Extra large...hope your Ester does too.
