Okay, so there were only a handful entered, but I'm still tickled that my 6-year-old's MF D'uccle hen won Reserve Champion in the open youth division at our county fair! These are her first chickens, hatched in April; she's such an attentive flock mistress that I'm very proud. She's going to visit "Milly" tonight, and doesn't know yet that she's won a ribbon. I can't wait to see how excited she is.

Kids and chickens, how fun!

Congrats!

That's so cool! Very happy for her! And I couldn't agree with you more about the kids and chickens thing. I was just thinking that the other day watching my 8 year old with his chickens that we raised this spring. It's such a great experience for them.

Congratulations on the ribbon!

Congratulations! I just posted about my own kids at the county fair. It was exciting for all of us. It's great to have the kids involved!

Can't wait to see pics.

We're going to visit Milly tonight, I'll post a pic then. My daughter was quite worried about her little hen being lonely when she left her there last night (it didn't help that a standard Ameraucana roo in the next cage was picking on her). Hopefully Milly will be looking chipper, basking in her success....

Had a hard time getting a good pic, but here they are:

Sorry you can't really see the hen! We'll have to get a shot of her holding Milly once we go to bring her home. Turns out she was the only entry in her class

, but I don't think she's figured that out yet.....
