My first Hatch. Itzy and Ditzy's BBS Cochin eggs

started collecting for my 3rd try in hopes that now that I did some feather trimming they are fertilized......

And now I think Ditzy may be thinking about going broody, not there yet. She went in the nest box to lay like normal around 12 was on it till 2. I got home from work and went to give them some squash and collect eggs and noticed she wasn't there. Peeked in the coop and she was back in the box. So went back and looked at the camera and she went back in around 3:45 was there till a bit after 6 then off for 15 min. the 2nd time she went to a different box though. Going to wait and see what she does. I am hoping to get 6 eggs from her and was going to put them in the incubator on Fri. I only have 3 eggs so hopefully she will lay on Wed, Thurs and Fri for me like I expected her too......

so guess I see if she fully commits or if they go in the incubator....

Well she stayed in there for bed and didn't go up to roost......... Of course the nest box she went into last isn't even HER favorite but a favorite of 2-3 of my other girls. They are going to be PISSED when she doesn't leave it! LOL

she got up from 6am-9:30am and is back on the original one now...

thinking of ordering some eggs from ebay to add to hers since I only have 3 of hers..... BUT they won't be here till Sat-Tue. so if I do get them then they are going to hatch later than I want which if she says broody and hatches and raises them is fine...... but if she doesn't then I am going to have some 3 - 3.5 weeks instead of JUST at 3 weeks old (well a tad under) and newly hatched ones....

Editing in to add that I did order them..... praying they come on Sat so I can get them under her ASAP. I need to let them sit for 12-24 hrs once they arrive right?

I got 12 and have 3 of hers (unless she isn't fully broody yet and lays any more this week). I am going to give her some and put some in the incubator. How many should I give her?

Ordered eggs from eBay. Got them today. 3/12 were broken. One just had a dent but still not setting it. I have 3 from Ditzy that I collected before she went broody. So will give Ditzy some and put some in the incubator. Will candle shipped eggs tonight to check air cells and start to decide how many I am giving to Ditzy

I gave Ditzy the real eggs today!!! I just put them up against her and she rolled them under her to tuck them in. it was so sweet! I will probably candle those ones on Sat night. I put 5 in the incubator (4 shipped and the lat one she laid last mon) and gave her 6, 4 shipped and 2 of hers from last Sat and Sun, so just over a week ago). fingers crossed I get a couple babies at least out of this!!!!!!!!!

Once I candle and see if any are developing I may steal the idea and do a adopt an egg thread. @MochaLatte

Need to check all incubator eggs but. The last egg Ditzy laid has a baby in it!!!!!
