Been reading here for a year and finally have my own hatch to marvel over.

This first chick to hatch was cheeping loudly even before external pip, pip to hatch about 3-4 hours.
Cheeping at 8am, pipped about noon, hatched about 4pm.

Only 1 of 12 viable at lockdown to hatch so far, got a couple more pips and some rocking but everyone else is taking their time. Number One went around and knocked on doors, but no one else has come out to play yet.

Hope to wake to some more chicks.

Got 2 more overnight then another, that had pipped yesterday afternoon, popped out about 6:30am.
No more pips as of now.

It's a mixed batch of eggs from 3 flocks that I am hatching for someone else.
They had the incubator (LG with turner and fan) and I had the time, attention to minute detail and wanted the experience and no means to buy an incubator.

Out of 25 eggs:
2 I broke open to determine fertility, had them for breakfast.
1 was cracked upon preset candling.
1 I dropped during day 7 candling, was infertile.
7 were clear/infertile.
2 quitters/bloodring.

12 went into lockdown:
11 were moving and/or 'full' at day 18 candling.
1 I never could see into so left to see, but I think it's probably infertile like the rest from that flock.

Some of the eggs were from my flock of mutts...light and dark brahma, cochin, wyandotte, australorp mixes.

The others are mixes too, but not sure what breeds.

More pics:
2nd and 3rd hatched over night

4th hatched this morning

I've asked the moderator to remove that gross pic in post #5 by a newbie and the response in post #6...moderator must have changed the title to add GRAPHIC PICS too.
Not sure I should even bother updating this thread...venting over....for now.

2 more hatched overnight and another at 6am...and another at about 9am(no pics of that one)...4 to go, no pips tho.

Moved the first 4 to the brooder, as it was riotous in the bator and rather crowded.
They are doing fine in the brooder and the heat and humidity came right back up in the bator.

They should have removed it and contacted the poster instead of just changing the thread title....
.....but glad I'm not a moderator on this forum, got to be a tough job.
This forum is one of the worst I've seen for mindless posting, it's **** shame.
Oops guess I'm still venting.
Sorry.

I know, wasn't expecting that photo to pop up there like that. Definite hijack of your thread. I'll report.

And congrats on more chicks by the way!
