I just bought an incubator off craigslist and will be hatching my first eggs on March 14th!!!! So far so good. 3 of our eggs weren't fertile and remained completely clear. Most of them are rhode island reds and doing great and I can see them moving!!! 3 of them are araucana eggs that were bred from our rhode island rooster and are so dark that we can't really tell if they are still OK or not. We saw blood vessels early on but now they are pretty dark. Is that normal? I'm leaving them in there just to be on the safe side.
Another questions. I know on day 18 you're supposed to leave them alone, stop turning them and increase humidity. Is there anything else I should know? Once they hatch do I leave them in there for awhile? or can I move them into a box w/ a heat lamp?
