It's been a rather tense introduction to chicken keeping for me! 2 days after I lost Peckington, a large branch fell near the coop and scared the girls. Meatbutt was hollering so loud to get my attention. Poor Agatha was inside the coop when it fell and seems to have flown into the wall with terror, damaging her comb. I cleaned it up and applied neosporin, and I am pleased to say that it looks very good and she is acting normally. Phew! I was terrified the stress was going to kill her.
Yesterday was a good day! Meatbutt laid an egg. My first as a chicken keeper! And then I brought Bobette home.I have her in a separate run attached to the main one so the girls can see each other. So far, Bobette and Meatbutt have been chest bopping and pecking at each other through the mesh. Bobette takes no guff and is not backing down! Will be very interesting to see who ends up as Queen chicken.
I'll post some pics when I'm on my home computer! Thanks to all for reading and for the support! It is very much appreciated.
