My first Quail Hatch!

I have my Bator hooked to a upc along with the turner. It can run it for about 7 hours or so if the power ever goes out that long.
You can pick up the smaller upcs even at Wally world now for as cheap as 40 bucks last time I looked. It should power a small Bator for an hour or two if you aren't running anything else off it.

well this was just a homemade bator i made out of an old cooler... so i didnt think about that contingency (power outages) but i'll be sure to address it soon. lets just hope it didnt kill my experience from the get go....

Lol, I'm the other way completely. This is my first attempt hatching, but first thing I did was unplug my computer stuff from the upc to plug in the Bator. My wife and was a little "perturbed" we will just say.

x2!

Don't give up on those eggs just yet! My last hatch, the power went down in the middle of the night and by the time I woke up, the thermometer was reading 76.4 degrees...I thought for sure that they were done. But I still got a 60% hatch rate and they were shipped eggs! I've heard sometimes it will delay the hatching by a day or two, but mine all hatched a day early. You just never know...

Thanks for the words of encouragement HereInOz. I wont give up on them. Now I must resist the urge to candle them every hour. Hell, Im even afraid to candle them at all. MIght not do it at all. Dont wanna find out that there are no viable ones. Lol

I only candle if I need space in my incubator. When I do candle I do it backwards by putting the candling light on the top of each egg while its still in the turner (I run 120-240 at a time I'm not trying to pick them all up out of the trays until lockdown). If the light shines all the way through the egg you got nothing, if the egg is dark or only has a small sliver of light near the top, you have a developing embryo. You aren't going to see heart beats this way or movement so its possible to have eggs with dead but developed embryos still show up as "positive" this way, but this eliminates you touching the eggs. All this assumes you can fit your candling light in your bator.

So at the end of day 6 I can give u guys an update... My homemade led candler (attached pics) has revealed 14 of 15 growing embryos.. Not too shabby at this point!! So excited!!!

Well the 18th day is on the 28th so yes 10-12 days! The expectation is killing me! I've told people in my family that if for some reason they dont hatch i'll be distraught. (i am kinda of pessimistic lol)
