My First Silkie Chicks!

Super cute. I have only 2 but they are docile and adorable. The hen stays broody.
I have one Blue Silkie hen that runs with my mix flock and after a Year just now got broody.
I think its because I put the baby chick brooder in the coop.
Lol the sound of baby chicks must have got her in the mood.

A friend of mine say's Silkie hens are MADE to sit on eggs. LOL. I've even considered having her sit on eggs from my other bigger hens to incubate. The problem is she is really tiny and I worry that if she became a mom to larger breeds, would she be able to handle that? Watching my bantam hens feed and mother their chicks looks like a full time job. LOL. Maybe this spring I may let her and if it gets to be too much for her I could always raise the chicks myself, leaving maybe one for her to be a mom to. My hubby thinks I'm so silly because I LOVE my fancy chickens so much. He is more practical and prefers layers. I just make pets out of all of them.

Bantams can raise upto 8 LF chicks easily, though depending on the size of the egg I'd give 4 or 5 :)
