This is a highly opinionated answer for a bird that you have never seen or evaluated. This bird definitely has more pluses than minuses at this time and can certainly be entered in any show. How well he will do will depend completely on the competition.
It is also an overstatement to say that all birds with silver/gold in their hackles will pass this on to every chick. That simply is not true. If a person is a serious breeder it is something to avoid if possible. With a few nice black hens, this boy should be able to have some nice chicks.
I notice your name includes the word "hatchery". Many would assume that you have poor breeding stock just because of your name. That is an example of giving an uneducated opinion.
SpeckledPullet...when you ask a question like the original "Is he show quality?"...you will receive everyone's opinion...not the evaluation of a licensed poultry judge.
Get him in the best condition possible and enter him in a show and then you can make your decision.
I have anything but poor breeding stock, it is also a highly opinionated statement to say I have bad birds because I named my farm Henely Hatchery. Also, I have seen it, she has posted many good pictures showing the brassy color from every angle, in no way shape or form should he ever place at a show, and if he does it would look very bad on the lincensed judge who placed him there. It is a disqualification to have leakage. Thats all that their is to it.
