My first time ever incubating Quail eggs.

Ok, i wasn't mad lol, theres a bit of noise coming from the egg and it moved a couple of times!

At first i thought i was actually going mad, as the egg looked like it was vibrating? But thanks to another thread i read on here it apparently means the chick is getting ready to pip. Never seen an egg vibrate on the spot like that in my life, but hey, this is all brand new to me :)

So, i guess i'll get back to work and keep a close eye on the egg

Yay!

Okay, so i haven't seen the egg move anymore, and only heard a few chirps last night, but i can clearly hear tapping from inside the egg

Does anyone know how long it takes from internal pip to external pip? I'm assuming it's a very lengthy process for the little chick? It's been around 5 hours of tapping now.

Also, my humidity has dropped a bit, is it ok to just dab a little bit of warm water on the egg with my finger? Just to help with moisture? I saw a post about putting a damp cloth under the egg, but i don't want to disturb the egg that much.

The chick is obviously doing whatever it's supposed to do right now, and i don't want to ruin that.

Eggcited!

Ok, thank you :) I wasn't sure if i was allowed to start a new thread if this one was still ongoing. I know some forums online have that rule. But thanks, i'll head over there now and see if anyone knows :)

Well i didn't get any answer on the Hatching thread lol, but it's ok as i got some help on another site.

I dabbed a bit of warm water to the area where i could hear tapping, and a few moments later the chick pipped! He chirped so loud!
He is now almost done zipping, so i would say a couple more hours and i should have a chick

This pic was taken a few hours ago, he's much further along now, i'd say less than a quarter of the way to go :)

Oh my god you did it again, I came online literally seconds after you posted xD Cya in a couple of hours Morrison's chick.
