My first time...we have pips and peeps!...(pics)..day 22

Those BBS chicks are always lazy. Try to get some sleep tonight and try not to check the bator armed in the middle of the night.

(It's bator check, not calving check)

Woke up to one more from Miss Prissy, looks like two are pipping.

Hey Buster, your comment reminded me I use to carry a .44 Ruger Redhawk on calving watch. It's amazing how fast the hairs on the back of your neck will rise when you come across a pack of coyotes sitting within the flashlights beam looking for a easy meal. My shift was always the 2 a.m. to sunrise.....then start in with regular chores. Don't need a .44 on bator watch.

2 am to sunrise-wow! Mine was always 9 pm and 7am because I worked nights in town. Mountain lions make the hair on the back of your neck stand up too. I haven't had to do any calf checks this year, but I've sure done a lot of bator checks in '09.

Congrats on the pips- are you whistling like MP told you too???

The dark chick is blue. The one beside it is splash. The other one in front could be splash or light blue (I see some dark in the down) The back one I am hedging on splash.
