2 definite blues, 2 definite blacks plus Slowpoke, who is black, and the other two are ambiguous.

What I don't understand is how, with two of them definitely out of Marans eggs and one of my roosters a Langshan, only one has feathered feet.

Aww they are adorable! Wish I was closer…love the dark eggs I get from the Marans mixes!

I will have photos later when I can download them off my phone. The 6 from Tuesday are thriving. I've had Slowpoke's shoe and hobble off to see how she's doing.

She's not ready to go without them, her leg still sticks out a bit and the foot, though flat, still has a toe out of position. So she's been re-hobbled and re-shod.

They came through the bitter cold night healthy and vigorous. Even Slowpoke is moving around the coop this afternoon.

I'm going to try to photograph them for their Craigslist ad this afternoon and to do a check for pasty-butt at the same time.

BTW, once I know for sure how many hatch and that they are strong and thriving I will be selling all of them and giving the money to God -- because they are the firstfruits of my flock.

I can't tithe my chickens as I'm not allowed a Rooster but Sunday mornings I bundle up the week's eggs that haven't been used & take them to church for whoever is in need. That way I'm not wasting any eggs, people get helped & God gets the glory. I have about 15 chickens laying so can have anywhere from 1 to 5 dozen eggs.

I had trouble giving away just one carton of eggs one Sunday when a person I'd arranged to give them to didn't show up.

There are several other people sharing eggs with friends so I guess people had all they needed.
