Okay, Well I have a couple of firsts here.
My first white egg... is this an egg from my polish? They are the only ones that lay white eggs. Just to me seems a little big for my polish. Unless it came from my ducks and I doubt that. Aren't duck eggs bigger anyways? lol.

Also my first soft shelled egg layed. What causes this again? They have layer feed 16% and free oyster whoever wants it. Could the soft shell have come from a new layer?

And Lastly A basket full of beautiful eggs that I collected this morning. Got another 18 eggs today, not counting the soft shell. My girls are doing awesome lately... and all in their nests... even new nests are being used. I guess locking them up helped.

i have to admit i am jealous i have 17 hens but only one is old enough to lay right now - that basket of eggs looks so pretty and all look like good sized eggs - i have no idea about the soft shelled so far i have not had one- good luck finding the answear and enjoy your eggs LOL

The white one probably came from the polish...but it does look sorta large!?? As for the soft shell...with new layers...they are just trying to get thier bodies in sync with laying...its ok, just takes time. Now, in that basket....the long skinny egg....have you cracked it yet?? I have had a few of those, all double yolks! Here is hopeing it is for you! Congrats on all the eggs....we are getting between 18 and 24 a day now, WHEW! Finally! With 37 hens....I have to say...Its about time!! LOL

chickengirlnm- Yes, they were all pretty decent, I have a couple new layers so I also got a couple little pullets in the basket as well. I took one look at the basket after collecting eggs, and ran straight for the camera... thought it was a beautiful picture... think I am going to fill up the basket with more eggs and take a picture for my fliers and my farm stationary. hmmm sounds pretty doesn't it.

justusnak - personally I thought It was kind of big myself, honestly do not think it is her first, BUT, It is the first one I have seen. I think I need to keep an eye out. I have 41 hens and looks to be 19 or 20 of them laying. Unless they are laying where I can not find them when I let them out in the afternoon. As for the double yokers, oh yes, I bet it is too with out even cracking it open! I love them!!! I get them all the time.

I'm still only getting 1 egg every other day.

I've still some with very pale non prominent combs...which are of the 'wheaten' characteristics. The one who is definitely laying is distinct from all the other hens...she has a black head and grey/brown feathers on her body.

Okay, I found another one this morning.... same size, same place... I am going to post another picture of what they look like before washing. Could one of my ducks be laying them???? Because I am finding them in the boxes where by ducks sleep and yes, my ducks are in with my chickens at night since we had a couple close calls with them... and the ducks have their own boxes.

Our ducks are 19 weeks. The polish are 23 weeks. Can you check a duck like you can check the vent of a hen to see if it's laying???? Otherwise if it is my silver or golden laced polish laying them.... you are right... OUCH!!!!

Awww Cheep, I sorry hun... they will get the hang of it... I was the same way, now finally getting more... like everyone says... it takes time... be patient. Don't you just hate when they/we say that LOL. Good luck hun... they will come soon!!!

Spotted - Thank you... and OUCH is right if coming from the polish.

Okay... I am guessing they are duck eggs. I did a search and they sure look like duck eggs and from what described by Simplicity... they have the oil feel and are smooth both with that icky stuff and after washing them... If I just let them be will she sit on them??????? I think I need to make a new cage area for just my duckies.... uggggg

BANTYMUM - Need advice/opinion here.... where are you???
