MP you posted earlier that red is not a standardized color and the reds across the pond are a deep mahogany. question 1. is red rare? Q2 the shade across pond come from working on that shade or that is just what came out of the gene pool?

Pretty birds! I will have to try that with mine.

I'm very close to getting my golden laced orps perfected...maybe a few more crossings to get it right...I'm working on leg color now. Pretty bird, though!

Red is not a color that is recognized as a standard by the Amerian Poultry Association.

Hey knew to this but it looks like you are trying to create Red Orpington chickens. I can tell you from somone who has already done this that crossing him to buff will only give you buff with orange cast. I have about 4 red hens left whith pink skin and white legs. All have a little black in tails only and one has a turkey neck. Gave away several roosters last year tht matched this description. All are large with puffy butts. If you need some help let me know. this took several generations.

Everyone should go for what they like with these projects. I just happened to like white legs better with my project.
