My Flock Story -- 2023

I'm writing up my for sale ads now -- I just have to count the male and female chicks when they're still on the roost after dark. I usually give BYC people a few days exclusive before I put them on Craigslist.
How do you make sure Craigslist people show up? I've not done CL but have had bad experiences with Facebook Marketplace.

First come, first serve.

If multiple people contact me I sell to the first responder but tell the others that their names are on the waiting list if the first person doesn't show.

Cockerels may or may not ever sell, but pullets generally go quickly.

They're up both here and Craigslist now so if anyone was thinking about it ... :D

I'm moving Buster and Sethos around in the dog crate like a mini-tractor. Beats trying to keep bedding in there.

BTW, it happens to have EXACTLY 4 square feet per bird in that setup.

(There was a mass escape from Camp Cockerel but I managed to round them up. The little gluttons had emptied their feeder so I was able to lure them in for food).

I mowed the lawn yesterday so today I used the lawnsweeper and threw the clippings into the various coops. I didn't stick around for photos though because it looks like rain and I wanted to get out of the steamy heat anyway.

I did *try* to get a photo of Mocha's babies but she hustled them back into the coop. One is DEFINITELY a little boy for sure. I don't know if I can get him away from her to put a band on him without bleeding though.

I scored the last two Whiting True Blues this morning. Those are the chipmunk chicks.

I bought them two BBS Cochins so that I didn't have just a pair to raise. May or may not keep the Cochins.

I'm going to see if my broody is still at it today and if she'll accept them.
