My Brahmas aren’t doing well in the heat. Now 88 Fahrenheit. My Orpington and Rhode Island Red are soaking it up. I put ice in their water. I still am on the fence about the Light Brahma being a rooster. I guess I’m just in denial.

It's been miserably hot here off and on for weeks. Ice in the water is a good idea; my girls like to dig into the dirt -- wherever they can find it -- to help keep themselves cool. And, the grocery store cashier laughed when she found out that the grapes and watermelons I've been buying are for the birds, not for me.

I have no opinion on whether the light Brahma is a roo. I have three Buckeyes, all from the same source, all the same age. One of them is a bit larger, has a much larger bright red comb and looks for the world like a roo. But, Althea is a prolific egg producer.

Hope yours turns out to be a girl, too.

How old is the light Brahma?
