I so feel your pain. We just bought all the lumber for our 12 x 16 coop and it was $820.00. Yikes. That doesn't include the windows and small things like hinges etc.
Hi everyone! I'm thrilled to read that I am not the only one who goes overboard! I have a few designs in mind for my coop (and a million dollars later) We'll be using the dog house to start. Then we'll decide on a design (right now it's masion vs "shed"). I am waiting to hear back from a local who sells chicks for the heritage town nearby. I'll probably be getting 3 Chanteclers and 3 Barred Rock Plymouths for my laying hens and I have no clue yet for my meat birds. It's all quite exciting!
I know what you are feeling I paid 2200 for my chicken coop, everyone says my chickens live better then some people around here. Now i am just trying to sell enough eggs for their food and bedding....
I spent about $1100 on mine. It is 6 x 12'. I thought it would cost me about $250 when I started. Yeah right. What was I thinking! And I didn't use the stainless steel hinges!
