I got my pullets about two weeks ago-- one Black Australorp, one Amber Sex Link, one Buff Brahma, and one Black Cochin. They've been very happy in their coop, which is adequately large for them, but I'd been wanting to let them free range in our yard....
We are in an urban setting, so I was very nervous about them being out and about, even though we have a 6 ft fence surrounding our yard and all our neighbors know about them and support our Urban Chicken enterprise. I was soo afraid that they'd flap out of our yard and I'd end up chasing them through the streets!
Lucky for me, though, they have really bonded with me... and every time I open the back door, they come running towards me. They follow at my heels when I walk through our yard, and all I have to do is hold out a palm full of chicken feed for them to all but climb on top of me.
I love my girlies. This is fun.
