My friend found a chicken in her backyard today....**PICTUE ADDED**

Aww Patty she's beautiful! Scarlet (O'Hara) comes to mind. I think it's great you're trying to locate her owner but if you get to keep her

she should fit right in....she's gorgeous! Good luck!

She looks just like my cockerel! Cute Polish girl. I named mine Rod after Rod Stewart...for the wild "hair" and he never stays still though he does like to be picked up.

I have never seen a full bred polish.. do you think she is a cross??? I thought she might be as she does have some beautiful green legs.. but she is almost as big as my full grown welsummers... she hasn't laid any eggs yet...

You know, your bird intrigued me so much that I've done some extra digging (yes I have no life

). I've actually run across a hatchery that is working on developing a red Polish. So by the nature of her color, she HAS to be a cross (you have to cross to get colors you didn't have before), but she's a cross by way of trying to get a standardized breed.

The hatchery developing this breed is called Ideal. It'll be interesting to see her full grown!

hmmm maybe I should contact Ideal about her.... she may be worth a million zillion dollars... the Agway by me purchases from Ideal so she may have come from one of thier batches... she looks a little young.. she may possibly be a discarded Easter chick....she is not very friendly now that I have had her a few days.. but she is always busy LOL.. no news of any one losing her so I guess she is offically mine

I think Patricia would be a good name.

Also Russet or Garnet.

We named our Buff Laced Polishes Eva, Captain Puffy or something, and... well, something else.

We also had a black Polish cross hen that I named Torpedo. She was rather small, skinny, and very fast. She reminded me of a cat.
