My Friends In The Feed Barrel !

These are horribly cruel, please don't use them. I have seen mice chew or pull their arms off to get out of them. Poison is just as bad and I have seen many dogs die or nearly die after eating the poison or a poisoned mouse. The old fashioned spring loaded traps are fastest and most humane after the live traps, of course, but I have had little success with live traps, and living in the city I have nowhere to bring live rodents where they won't become a nuisance to someone else

Kick your cats outside and only let them in to eat once a day. No free feeding (and no feeding every other cat/animal in the neighborhood either!)
My cats like snacks in-between meals, particularly snacks that move!!!!
Between them and the hens, we don't have a mouse problem.

I have no intention of using any traps, I did indeed put some rat poison out when I saw a Ratzilla in there LOL (small shed nothing can get in and get into poison but rats and mice) well the very night afterwards I found a huge hole in the barrel, before they'd just push under the lid, guess they didnt like the poison LOL like someone else said, Their not taking that much of the feed and arent in the house so till they start causing major problems ill just let them be. Oh and upgrade to a metal barrel!

and as for the cats. Their outside cats already and the only one who showed interest in the mice is my lil female who just wants to play with the darn things! not to mention shes so small i think Ratzilla would whoop her butt big time LOL

Ours are too smart for the spring traps and I don't like the second kill nature of poison with all the wildlife out here. I'm afraid glue traps are a done deal for me. I've caught 30 already. Stay out of my storage/studio building! BTW, mice can have a litter every 19-21 days. How would you like a new "hatch" of ~200 new mice a year just from one mother? That's not counting any of the new breeders she produces.

We have no cats, but the chickens LOVE mice. It is horrid when they get a hold of one, but effective.

I haven't had a problem with mice... yet. But when I do, I'll use a humane trap and take them to the raptor center. I'm sure grain-fed mice would be delicious to the right bird...

My cats catch a lot of moles, and baby bunnies in the spring. But rarely a mouse.

Unfortunately, there is a serious mouse problem where I work, but since they poison them I can't capture them for the raptors.
