My gander got his eye taken out :( duramycin?

My gander is missing his left eye I am keeping him in a stall right now because he is now blind on his left side, his eye socket is clean and i change his water alot so its clean when he dunks his head in it, hes doing quite well eating and running around i am planning to go to tractor supply to buy duramycin to prevent an infection from accuring..does this work well and how many days should i give it to him in his water?

According to the Med chart i got from Twin City poultry, Penicillin is the best treatment for preventing infection is wounds . Powder or tablets.
