My Geese are bullys!!

Okay now I am seriously worried about Sam, he is 7yrs old and I am thinking it's been months since he had lobes. He eats good but he has seemed off for a while I just thought from molting.

??
so new to Geese , Please help me understand, what are the purpose of lobes and why would his being gone worry you?

From all I have read the lobes are fatty tissue, Seeing him everyday I just didn't think much about this but now I am worried something maybe wrong, Other than molting he doesn't appear to be sick but they can hide illness so good. I put Epernix pour on on his neck tonight for a good worming.

It's fun but sometimes i need other people opinion's
Well, it´s always good to bounce ideas from each other... one of those white ones looks quite masculine to me...

The male (or the one we think is) has two, right above his legs ( I thought it was just muscle or fat), the females has one
Well that´s interesting. That makes me wonder if they are from different nests. some breeds have one, other breeds two, looks like little pantaloons. If they were from the same nest I would imagine they´d have the same.
I have auto-sexing geese, and the males don´t have lobes, none of them. But the females do. It all depends on what breed(s) you have in your geese.

Sorry MLyd, didn´t mean to worry you...

I´ve read, and it makes sense with mine, that cottonpatch females will have lobes when they´re fed extra goodies, but left out in the fields, they don´t have lobes. My female auto-sexing are like that, too. The females, when I bought them, had lobes, but nothing much. They now have quite heavy lobes, and they used to live in a field. Now they get extra food. so, that makes sense...except, of course, that´s with female auto-sexing.
My ganders don´t eat as much in the breeding season, they´re too busy being on guard. My ganders don´t ever have lobes, but I wonder, if they did, whether this would make a difference.

Living in brazil is right Pure Embden geese have lobes both sex but embden males don't have it all the time this is only with heavy breeds when the male have a lobe but it isn't really a lobe at males but saggy fat

Geese that range in fields all day and walk will likely to have less lobes then geese that walk around and keep eatting goodies so that theory so true :)
It's so true

Well this makes me feel some better, They do a fair amount of walking up and down a hill here lots of exercise so maybe that's why Sam isn't carrying the lobes, They don't get alot of extra goodies except in winter I feed whole corn along with their FF. After Missy came off the nest her lobes were gone too, but she is getting her's back I don't know how though those goslings keep her on the move. lol.

Ok, mine range on grass ( they have about 1/3 acre) but I also give them Flock Raiser ( feed that the chickens and turkeys get) is that too much??...

The grey, Rio has the bulges right above his legs, when Serv said Pantaloons that's almost exactly what they look like. way more prominent than the white ones.

Also, they were out all day yesterday and all was well (atleast the Turkeys were still alive )

Do true Embden have grey spots also? Both whites have just a tad of grey on their backs.. If they are all from the same clutch should they be able to mate?

Oh my husbands wants to know why they don't like him?? He has been there also since hatching and has always been there to care for them right along with me, they will not come to him for treats, if he gets close they run away, if he sits they steer clear, our daughter who goes out once a week they run right to ... He is very frustrated, he loves having them as much as I do.. I have tried to stand away so they cant see me, he has tried giving them dandelions (its really like chocolate to them) but nothing works... LOL ( he is such a tough guy)

Lyd it's odd but some just have it and some don't but some are just bigger then others but a pure embden female must always have lobes
