My Giant Rooster!

It is appropriate that you have your Jersey Giant rooster standing next to a turkey in the picture, because Jersey Giants were originally bred as a meat bird and to be a substitute for a turkey. The information I read stated that they take about 18 months to fully mature. Your rooster may still be growing. :)

Jersey Giant roosters are supposed to weight about 13 pounds. He is a big boy.

Would there be a concern to have a roo that large if the hens weren't also Jersey Giants?? My little marans is so tiny (she had issues as a chick) that I'd be scared he'd squish her.

Yes, I'd be careful with that (although I'm sure he couldn't actually breed them because of his size). I have a little belgian d'anver hen that is really tiny too. He breeds my other hens, but leaves her alone. He's really kind to her and gentle (as if he knows she's smaller).

That thing looks like it could take out some of the pitbulls in my neighborhood...think I could borrow him?

Lol! I don't think he would take out any pitbulls out. My tiny silkie rooster bosses him around and tells him what to do. He's just really "chicken" when it comes to fighting. Lol!

Yes I read that on the internet. I can see how they would be a substitute for turkey meat. I'll really have to weigh him to see how heavy he is. He would be a pretty impressive boy if he is still growing!
