Hey Everybody,
I have at least seven hens that do that constantly every week. My older hens normally, sometimes it's the "egg song" when a hen is getting ready/already laid an egg.
Sometimes a hen will do it when another hen is laying an egg... My theory is that the one hens tries to distract predators, other hens & a rooster from the layer. Yes- it sounds like laughing and each hen has a different reason for doing it.
One of my flocks (9 yrs old) do it all the time. They are nine for heaven's sake! Obviously it's not a bad thing, they've done it their whole life.(Although I admit it may be caused by stress in the coop/flock... But I know my hens aren't stressed and neither looks yours).
I swear my flocks tell jokes!! I walk up there and they coffee cloche... Sitting in a circle beside each other making those laughing sounds. Too cute and funny.
Beautiful hen by the way! I hope I helped a bit. Most of the reviews on the sound folks gave above are very knowledgeable. Good luck and God bless!! Have a nice evening.
Sincerely,
-The Angry Hen

Thank you!!! I like to think they aren't in any kind of distress because I spoil them rotten!
