She just doesn't like pets (because it diverts attention from her) and let me know that with so much misery in the world with humans (usually caused by selfish people), it is wrong to become involved with pets[ (that divert attention from HER!)

She's right....humans have a lot of misery in the world, most of it self-inflicted. That is the very reason I became involved with animals!!!!

In SO many ways a relationship with a pet is more honest and satisfying than one with a human. For example. animals
are capable of unconditional love. They consistently act in their own best interests. They treat you as you treat them. Best of all, they never ask you to help them move and then reject you. HA! No game playing or hidden agendas!

Don't misunderstand, I like many people and consider myself very tolerant of their sometimes irrational behaviors, but there is a special relationship you can have with a trusted beloved pet that is impossible with another human. I think God gave us animals to teach us how to treat each other better. I have learned a great deal about loving others from them.​

Holy cow! Good riddance and consider yourself lucky! Definitely a case of selfishness on her part and clearly passed it onto her daughters. What you need is a woman that says, "Oh cool! You have chickens! Let's cook at your place (or order out or go for an early or late dinner...take your pick), so we can close up the chicken coop at dark."

If you're lucky, her first anniversary present to you will be an incubator.

And, yep, there's a lot of misery in the world (always has been...always will be); therefore, I have no kids, 1 cat, 3 dogs and 30 chickens.

(Ok, so that's not why DH and I don't have kids, but pets are great companions and relieve everyday stresses!!).

wow, Can not belive someone would think this way! That's aweful.. Your lucky to be rid of her.. She could only bring you trouble and heartache! Am amazed at the face that she think it's such an aweful world.. Yes, we have poverty, we have war and we even have pandemics.. But we also have sunny days, love and each other.. Could not imagine life without animals.. Have you ever had a really bad day, only to come home and see the chicks, and it's all forgotten? One slobery kiss from my dog, and all my stress melts away!
You will find a great woman, cause you sound like a great guy...
PS I would have issues with chickens in the house though... sorry
