Is this a Boer or a goat that has been around Boers?

That abcess is on a lymph gland, and could very well be CL. You need to isolate the goat under VERY strict conditions. DO NOT POP the abcess. Get it to a vet for culture ASAP.

Listen to Helmstead, that sounds like Caseous lymphadenitis (sp) and it is HIGHLY contageous to other goats AND sheep. It doesn't respond well to anibiotics either.
