My Golden Cascade Ducks

I am so very, very upset. I just found two of the ducklings dead in their pool, apparently drowned. It was the little yellow one and the little gray one. The two black ones seem to be doing fine. Mama Welshie doesn't seem to be acting any differently.

I am just devastated and blaming myself. I just bought them the new little tub on Sunday and of course we checked to make sure they could all jump in and out of it. I don't know if they got too tired or too cold and just gave up or if Welshie stepped on them (which we've seen her do in the pen). It doesn't really matter - I blame myself.

So sorry, I had the same happen here with just one duckling but it is devastating.

Jump in an out or can they walk in an out. Don't rely on the jumping part with ducklings. My lil swimming thing was just a cat litter tray.

Jumping in and out. I have taken out the little pool, just a small metal pan from Tractor Supply. Now the remaining two will just have to make do with their plastic paint tray, which Mama Welshie keeps tipping over so most of the water spills out, which is why I got them something a little bigger and less tippy.

That's what I'm thinking.

Here's a video I took yesterday that shows the pool that the two ducklings drowned in. The thought of them running around after bugs and lake flies just this morning makes me start sobbing all over again.
