I'm staying with my dad for the summer while I'm searching for a new duck friendly apartment in the chicago. My ducks are excited because they have a nice big backyard to play in. I bought them a new kiddie pool (They've only bathed in the bath tub their whole lives). I figured it would be a treat because they didn't go outside a lot at our old house. They really liked running around and playing in the rain for the first time... but when i got the kiddie pool out and filled, they were very weary.

So, I thought i'd help them out and put them in the pool so they understood it was a place to swim. As soon as I put them in the water they ran out in the blink of an eye. I even put lettuce and pond food in the water hoping to coax them in, but the stinkers figured out they could just reach in and grab it without going in.

My two youngest ducks were also scared because the older ducks were scared. So when I put Victor and Ming Mei away for the evening, I let the little ducks try it out for themselves. Ollie, who is scared of everything and everyone, really took to the pool. And since the other ducks won't go in it, she's got her own personal spa now. lol.

Any ideas or tricks to getting them used to the kiddie pool? Since I am a guest at my father's house for the next couple weeks, I don't want the ducks taking baths in the tub, lol. Luckily the rain seemed to help them get wet and clean yesterday, but they really need to get in the pool. Any ideas?

My ducks were the same way...I changed color of the pool and they wouldnt go near it..What I did was pick one up at a time and sit them in the pool if they were calm , I moved to the next and kept doing that until all 5 were in the pool and calm...Took a few trys but once they seen the others in there playing they all wanted in...
