My Great Dane Puppy Killed my Chicken

So sorry for your loss. I have dabbled myself in obedience dog training but it's been many years ago. I taught the dogs such as a hand signal with a word. If they performed they got a treat if they didn't perform no treat. Surprisingly they learned pretty quickly. I'm sure it was the treats. It got to a point when I would give them a command they would still perform well but I always gave them praise when they did well. They like to please their masters. Good luck...

If you have watched any of the dog shows, the handlers always have treats for the dogs and praise them when they do well.

I can completely understand. I just brought home 8 Cornish Cross chicks from TSC today (sooner than planned because they just got them yesterday). While I was getting the brooder set up, I left the box beside the inside coop for my 6 wk pullets and cockerels mixed flock. I was going back and forth between rooms getting everything together. My 8 yr old Russel Terrier, Molly, that has been watching my other chicks, kept following me around. I was gone for 2 minutes, when I went back in, the box was torn open and a chick missing! I looked around thinking the bigger chicks had gotten to it. I couldn't find it. I then came out and found my dog eating it in her crate. I was not happy and she ended up in the cold rain. I put the rest in the brooder while I finished getting everything set up in it. Sorry to vent, but needed to get this out. Thank you.

Also, I'm sorry for your loss. 😢
