So I purchased 5 lovely silver laced polish hens this March and absolutely love them but they their tail feathers get pecked a bit by the others so I keep them separate at night. A friend had a white crested that ended up being a rooster and could not keep him so ok I tried him out. He’s a bit neurotic doesn’t let me touch him but sits NEAR me. One day I see one of my hens has no tail feathers and a few gouges and the rooster is limping and squinting. I catch him up and huge slash on his belly and gash above his eye and my hens butt all bruised. They are free range during the day with 28 total flock. I figure hawk attack as I have a lot of hawks. I get rooster and hen up in my air condition barn room in a dog crate, start antibiotics and wound care (im a vet). After a few days I let them out to free range with the others and in the room at night. My rooster is now co dependently attached to me LOL. He crows when I get there, crows when I leave, try’s to herd me around, pecks me when I don’t comply and aggressively chases all my other chicken friends away if they try to get close. But he’s so happy to see me, I give him some popcorn and he doesn’t eat it he clucks around and want to give it back to me 😜. I went in the room and I put him in the room loose so I can see the other chickens without drama… I go in and he had gotten up sitting right in front of the AC and his “hair” was blowing back, I’m like What the Heck?!? He looks at me like Problem?? He’s a total ridiculous rooster! Here are some pics. I don't know how to post the video of the AC incident lol

What a good looking rooster 🤩 Not being able to touch him may be from him not being able to see real well . I so glad he survived the hawk attack .
you might try calling his name if named or whistle before you try to touch him . I have an almost 8 month old Polish / Silkie Cockerel that you can't touch if you don't call his name(Copper)

Oh I pick him up all the time now. Ever since he had to be doctored on twice a day now he is extreme attached to me…. He comes running up to me circles around and then lays down and I pick him up. His name is The Batman… When I put him out in the morning he puts his bat wings down to the ground and chases all the chickens away. It’s hilarious. we call him Bruce or Brucester for short. He has some revenge issues because the others pulled some tail feathers before I got him caught up. He’s got a lot going on in his bird brain. Here he is surveying the outside run I just cleaned and put down D. Earth with his supervision. He did not let anyone else in. When I leave he goes back to being normal. I’m just happy he’s aggressive enough to fight off a hawk and he saved my lovely smallest polish hen so I will work with his quirks 😃👍🏻

Don't chickens just have the quirkiest personalities?
I have a Polish Silkie mixed rooster Copper he loves attention. He fought off a Chihuahua that breached my coop . Didn't get hurt and none of my pullets or hens or chicks were hurt . I was having issues with him but figured out some of my pullets were not pullets
