My Hatching Journey: the Adventures of a Complete Newbie

Well now can't have a thread without a post can we :frow Banti get eggs today? I still haven't started the on the incubators . just focusing on egg collection right now and I was wrong ! a 150 is how many I need for one :th { note to self learn to count } :lau Looks like I'm going to Mcdonalds back later:frow

Not yet..... Hoping to have an answer tomorrow... I don't know the man personally, but my other neighbor does and she said she would ask him tomorrow, so that is why it is taking a while.

That is a lot of eggs. Makes my 1 dozen seem like diddly squat.

You will never learn to count right.... Chicken math is a known phenomenon.... Especially prevalent in hatchers... ;)

Completely wrong...

4 hens plus 2 roos
=22 chickens . (you should have 10 hens per roo)
20 hens, (silkie and BO) + 2 roos, + the arrival of spring, (can anyone say BROODIES?)
= 45 chickens, of which 20 are roos.

Then, 20 roos = chicken soup, which = a mysterious package from someplace called " Brinsea". (Must have been the cat...)

1 mysterious package + 25 hens and a feeling of inadequate chicken numbers because of aforementioned processed roos, =
70 chickens.

60 chickens plus the discovery of an exiting place called "ebay". While getting coffee, the cat walks in again and places the winning bid on 40+ frizzled tolbunt polish hatching eggs.

40 hatching eggs + 21 days = 20+ chicks.

After the tolbunt hatch, you realize those guys are so stinkin' cute you really should have more and set up a breeding program. So....

4 chickens + 2 chickens =
150 chickens and a 200 egg incubator on the way that that dumb cat accidentally bought. We're not counting ducks, peas, geese, or emu in here.
