That's right, 36.... Last time I calibrated it, it went to 33 and I figured that was belivable and edited that into my readings. But 36??? I'm going to try again... And if it still comes back 36, I know why my eggs died...

My LG thermo got left in for 10 minutes and came back exactly 32.... Would be rather lousy if the LG was better than this one.

The ones that come with the bators are usually pretty accurate but

@BantyChooks - I am going to build my coolerbator following this youtube video. It seems like a simple setup, and easy to do electric. I have done minor electrical stuff before, and this is straightforward. the lights are hooked to a wafer thermostat, and once the temperature is set, it is controlled by the thermostat.

I am going by what matches the symptom list and possible exposures/ risk factors. M. Gallisepticum matches up all except 1 of the symptoms, facial swelling, and even than it is probable there was actually some and I didn't notice it. I knew a lot less back when symptoms were more active.

Maybe I'll ask my dog's vet next time I go if they would run tests on a chicken...

I'm still lookin though, and if I do find one I will do tests. Just VERY expensive...

vet bills can be high I was just wondering how you knew what you have. I don't have a chicken Vet . but was able to do a necropsy through my vet at the state lab . helped me some . but didn't get the answer I was looking for. not bad though no AV in my flocks .
 
I really do not trust the thermometer in the little hygro II or the one you have in the picture . the one I showed you a picture of is all I use. why don't you go to walmart and get one for a fish tank cost $3 put it in the Incubator and check the others against it . they are hard to read but very accurate and good for comparison calibration . and remember you want top of egg temperature.

no glass floating type is what you want . the will fit it in some humidity vent holes but are to short to use like that . they will work laying down though . you can adjust your little thermometer by sliding the tube in the little metal straps a little bit.

Aquarium floating thermometer the cheap one will do fine use the search to see it .one line it is very cheap. in the store $3
