understandable, :hugs , i have a strange fascination with wanting to know what went wrong, i open all of them 

I'm okay once they're open, but I have a fear of opening an egg to a live baby....

Done that once or twice .But in most cases they wouldn't have made it anyway .You get better at knowing what not to open as you hatch more . I don't open all of them just the ones that have piped internally but didn't hatch . The others I can pretty well tell by the candling what went wrong. I don't put much hope in eggs that go past 22 days . If they hatch their culls most of the time .You best get tough Banti
