My heart is broken, Scovey Hen flew off yesterday

I'm sure someone has already mentioned this, but... Muscovies are SO GOOD at disappearing and then reappearing. I had a hen who absolutely vanished and we KNEW that she was a goner. We searched everywhere for her. A month plus later she appeared with 9 little ducklings following her around, so she must have had a nest somewhere. The funny this is that it HAD to be in the yard, because she had angel wing and couldn't fly and, of course, she had the ducklings waddling around with her.

I did eventually find her nest. It was half buried under our ladder next to the shed partly under a sideways bucket covered with debri LOL.

So, I hope your sweetheart is pulling the same prank on you and that she comes back home!

I had a chicken once that went missing after a fox attack - we assumed that she had been killed. But she returned 6 months later! She had been living wild. She was in great condition though - she looked so sleek and fit. I know that that is a chicken story and not a Muscovey story....but I just wanted to add a little bit of hope.

I have been hanging around the fantastic Duck area of the forum for a while and this is one of the threads I've been following...hoping for a happy ending just like everyone else. I followed the incredible story of Peanut too and I hope that Scooter "does a Peanut" and is back home soon. There is still hope to be had. I bet she'll have some great tales to tell......

Thank you for sharing your story Cocoa and Welcome to BYC!!
I'm holding onto hope for Scooter, I incubated her egg in the house until she pipped, then slipped her under my broody Pekin and laid in the duck house with her most of that day...I feel like she's my baby girl, ya know? As a duckling Scooter let me hold her anytime I wanted and even MammaPekin Duck used to let me handle her all I liked...that little duck had my heart from the moment she popped out of the shell LOL Oh who am I kidding? All of my ducks have had my heart since the moment I laid eyes on them..I've been hopelessly owned by ducks for almost 3 yrs now :) Scooter is my first and only Muscovey. My Husband has decided Scooter was been eaten by a predator, I'm ready for Scooter to make him eat those words LOL I love Peanut's story, a real miracle that one!
