Chickens eat weird stuff. When we were working on the fence, the wiring had some plastic stuff wrapped around the roll to hold it together. It was like Saran Wrap only lighter weight. I went in the house for something, and when I came back out my Partridge Rock (Misty) was just finishing one strip of it. I saw the end disappear into her mouth when I approached her. She is a bit shy, and there was no catching her in time to retrieve it. that was a couple of months ago, and so far she is fine.

When my dog ate a foriegn object, the vet recommended a can of pumpkin puree. She loved it and gobbled it right down. I know the two intestinal tracts of a dog and chicken are totally different but it can't hurt. I think the pumpkin fiber encapsulates the item and lubrucates the system. I'm betting the rocks in the gizzard will render it harmless but it's got to make it there 1st.

My hen just did the same which is how I found this post. Glad to hear it has worked out for people in the past, gives me some hope and lowers my stress!!
