My hen decided today to come into the house and lay her egg

I have three seven months old pet hens. They are very social and friendly. My Ameraucana is the most curious and she likes to sit in my lap acting like a little dog. Today she came up to the back door on several occasions crouching down. I finally let her come in, she proceeded to jump up on a bench with lots of cushions and started nesting. I sat next to her watching the spectacle. After half an hour she laid her egg. With obvious relief she jumped down and joined the others outside. It was awesome to witness this ardeous process but I am not quite sure what to make of this behavior.
Any thoughts, suggestions????

That's a very funny and cute story! Granny's right. She wouldn't have chosen to lay her egg in your house unless she felt very secure in doing so.
