My hen escaped and came back badly injured

She is actually doing much better today, the Tylan did help and I wnt to a new family-owned farm store and a lady told me of a product that everyone needs to know about (if you dont already). Its called QuickDerm. Its a cream that I was rubbing on her wound and today when I went to clean her a giant scary scab came off and she has beautiful skin growth! I cant even tell where her crop is! Her poop is still runny and yellow/white, but she seems to be doing amazingly well and led me on quite an active chase through my house today. She has lost a little weight but I think thats from skipping meals out of protest. I did see her eat her feed today.
Still spraying her with Vetricyn daily, too. So keep praying for us, it must be working!

:yesss: SOOOOO glad for the progress! Keep up the great work, Mom!

We're in Ohio and doctors have to see patients to write prescriptions. I actually think I have cephalexin from when I was sick. I know I have human antibiotic pills of some sort. One is Doxycycline. Worst case scenario, I suppose, is that my cat takes Clavamox when she gets sinus infections and it is that time of year...
Dr Ram Mohan in Reynoldsburg Ohio is the best avian vet ever. I used to work for him,and would suggest that you call his office for advice on compounding antibiotics to the correct dilution

Well, our saga came to an end last night. Marsala had a BEAUTIFUL layer of skin that was sprouting feather buds on her chest, and I wanted to take a picture but she was covered in poop. So I gave her a bath, kept her very warm and dry, and figured Id take pictures in the morning. Then, later in the evening she began gasping for air like a fish does. Ive seen that before. I kinda knew. She had been losing weight and had the gurgles a few days ago. I was treating her with Tylan and had been putting a few drops of VetRx on the floor of her crate. Tried to stay up most of the night with her but I did go to bed and this morning I discovered that she didnt make it through the night.
Thanks again for all of the love and support from everyone. I am going to focus now on making my new flock of former battery hens healthy and happy in my home, along side of my other girls, my blind rooster and my one-footed Roo (I just cant seem to do normal or easy around here!! LOL)
❤❤

I am so very, very sorry. Your efforts and diligence were amazing - as is your very obvious love for your animals. I, for one, learned a great deal from following Marsala's trials, and I'm sure many others can say the same thing. Thank you for sharing this journey with us.
:hugs
