My hen has a prolapsed vent !

Where can I find an uncle like that?! That's awesome! I'm so glad she's doing better. She's a cutie!!!

Seems like tot got this under control!
You get a long distance high five from California!
:highfive:
Ah haha thank you ! He said that she was mostly in her cage today. Tomorrow she will be free ranging again. I think that if shes in her cage she thinks that she has to go to sleep. I'm very scared of leaving her. And I hope that if i treat her prolapse that it stays in and doesn't come out again

That looks good @Janke Beukes :)
Noone can guarantee she will be fine, but it really is looking good. There is no sign of necrotic tissue and with the swelling going down, I am hopeful for a positive outcome. :yesss:

Remind your Uncle to keep applying that Vaseline and all going well you'll be returning Sunday to a much improved situation - she's a fighter!! :) And your Uncle is super! On your return you can give him a hug for all of us :D

I also think it is looking good. I was soooo scared of leaving her behind. I will be bandaging her up sunday. And the prolapsed area is just looking weirdly shaped because if the swelling going down i think. Its not that round anymore if you know what i mean. Yeah this hen really is a fighter. My mom says that these hens, in Afrikaans we call them Kapokkies, are strong hens and almost never give up if they are sick. I'm so so so proud of my hen being such a fighter !!

I forgot to tell you guys. Its my grandma and grandpa treating her. They are doing an AMAZING job. The prolapse stayed in aallllll day long! From 12 tge afternoon until 6 pm now. I'm so glad !!!

Update on Speedy. This morning the prolapse mostly stayed in, only a small part had fallen out. They put it back and smeared vaseline. I don't think she has layed another egg, so I'm hoping she doesn't until I get back. And I hope that her prolapse stays in when she lays another egg. We are also thinking of giving our rooster away, we believe that it was his fault for the prolapse. We might be getting another hen, not sure yet. But yeah she's okay now, more lively than she was in the beginning
