Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this site and am 6 months into my first little flock oh hens (7 black sexlinks). About two weeks ago, I started noticing that all but one of the girls was starting to show signs of picking at the base of the spine in front of the tail. A few of the girls have been picked up their backs and a bit under their wings. I got some pick stopping cream from TS, and so far, I haven't seen any blood.

My question is this. The hen that, up to this point, I have always thought was the most mature of the group, is starting to show bald patches in strange areas. Specifically, the underside of her neck is now bald, and the side of her leg also has a quarter-sizes bald spot. Neither place is red, and other than the size of the area growing a bit, it isn't getting "worse." No blood or signs of infection. Any thoughts?

If they are picking at each other, first guess would be the hen with no bald spots., is doing the damage. Or they are molting and she is slower to do so. Spend some time observing them and you may find your answer quickly. Have you checked them all for lice or mites?
