My hen is just sitting in her hen box

3 days or more in my experience - don't let her fool you into thinking she's got over it so fast! If you want to test her, let her out, and then check the nest 30 mins later, and again until you're sure she's not going back.


Okay thanks. I’m gonna leave her in there. The other hens come to her. She still kinda grunts and fluffs her feathers tho when we come around or the other hens. She’s standing tho not sitting in the nesting position.
 
that's fine, she'll get over it. You might want to give her a nutrient burst when she does get over it, as she'll lose quite a lot of condition while she's at it.

there are a variety of supplements available; I don't know what's on the shelves where you live, but we have something called poultry spice, widely available at this time of year as many give it to help their birds through the moult. And there are liquid vitamin and mineral supplements too. All listed on this page to give you an idea of the sort of nutrient boost I meant,
