We have a small flock . We’ve lost 4 . So down to 8 hens 2 rooster and have 2 ducks also . They are just over a year old. I have one hen we call Green Bean and since we got her she’s always been a very docile , lovey, girl . Well since spring sprung here she’s gone full fatal attraction on me . She will chase other hens away from me , my little dogs , our outside cats . She’s constantly trying to sneak in our house when the big dog comes in by getting under him . All day she sits on my porch squawking and pecking the door until I let her in the entry way , where she lays her egg then makes noise until I come out and pet or hold her . If she’s not in the entry way she will follow my voice in the house and get on anything she can to look in windows and squawk at me . Does she think she’s a house pet ?!

The closest experience I have to this is a rooster of mine. He was attacked by what-we-will-never-know. I had some serious injuries to deal with. Poor guy was ready for me to quit fooling with him (I didn't really know much back then, not that I know a whole lot now either but hey!). I guess somewhere along the line he decided that he needed to eat from my hand at least once a day. I go out to feed and he jumps up on my shoulder and rides around up there until I have fed all the others (yes even the goats). Then he gets a handful of feed straight from my hand before going off to finish eating with the rest of the crew. It's totally crazy.

That is adorable. Maybe the other animals don't think so, of course, but she sounds really attached to you. What breed is she? That is so funny that she lays her egg in the house!

I think a Rhode Island Red ? She will not lay it anywhere else . If I’m not home she just lays it on the porch but now I usually just leave the door cracked for her and make sure the door into the house is closed . One time it didn’t get closed and she made herself at home on my library couch and I found her egg In the basket of clean towels
