Any help would be greatly appreciated, am new to the group and need some advise/help with my girl.

She’s approx 18 months old, we got her mid April, with a sore on each wing she kept picking at, we bathed it in Epsom salts and although looked dryer they wouldn’t go as she continued to pick, two little patches. She also had that “dirty bum” which cleanered up with apple cider vinegar.

Shes been with my other 2 girls now for about a month, she starting losing feathers, around her comb. I treated all 3 with mite power (treats lots of different things too) she then started loosing lots of feathers I thought it was a moult as she stopped laying and we are going into winter. But she’s lost so many feathers and left with bold patches which are now turning almost black! She won’t let me near her but it appears all her skin is turning black, she’s been like this for over a week now and today her comb has black patches. The other 2 hens are completely fine! She is fine in herself, eating, drinking, just looks awful and doesn’t like being touched.

Please post in full detail - pictures will help too, at "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread and see what the fine folks there can help you with.

:welcome

I see some pin feathers coming in (red circle)
Is there a way to capture her and let us see some photos of the black skin? If she is a bit rowdy, wait until night when she is roosting, then get her. Having a helper would be good, one to hold, the other to take pictures:)

If she is bright within herself, eating/drinking, stopped laying and you are going into winter, I would suspect she is molting.

Hello and welcome to BYC. I have suggested moving your thread to the ER forum, but I see that Wyorp has replied so you're in very good hands already :)

Good luck

Thank you I will try and get better photos when I have a helper,
If you can see on the photo there are dark patches and when I move feathers back it is like that all over her!

Thanks for your reply
