My hen just died...I have some questions *Graphic pic*

My hen was sick, could not walk or stand up, when she died and i picked her up she had a bunch of tiny brown worms under her. Did she have worms or coccidia? I want to medicate my other hens and don't know what to do. I also found another hen dead but i did not see any worms, but then i really did not look.

Sorry for your loss. It sounds like your hen had maggots under her.

Sounds like your chicken had myiasis, or maggot infestation. This happens sometimes when chickens are sick or debilitated, and poop ends up on their vent and attracts flies. It's really common and upsetting to discover!

Sorry for your loss. It sounds like your hen had maggots under her.

I thought it was maggots but i kept her bottom cleaned and she was only dead for a few hours. I think when she first got sick the flies infested her before i took her home, I washed her bottom and kept her in a clean environment. Now i know how to treat everyone else. Thank you for all your help. And that is her in the picture.
