My hen layed an egg 1/3 the size she normally lays...

One of my hens recently layed an egg 1/3 the size of the eggs she lays every other day....is this normal? Does anyone know why this occurs??

Sometimes that happens. There may not be a yolk in it. I believe its called a wind egg.

Yep, I found 2 or 3 every year. Nothing to worry about.
99% chance it will be yolkless. In all my years I only found one with a yolk. Wish I would have known I would have loved to try and hatch it to see what would have come out of it.

I had one a few weeks ago and it was so darn cute I couldn't crack it. But today it dropped and broke and there was a tiny little yoke. So cute. would have made a darling fried egg!
