my hen my hen!

Someone else had a chicken with a big gash just the other day, there are some medications and they said to keep it flushed to keep it clean and to keep her in a quiet place for shock and seperate her from the chickens

how is she acting? is it her crop or her neck.

Clean it up either way and if there is hanging skin you may want to loosely wrap it with gauze.....

Give us some more info to help when you get those pics.

I am so sorry. I once had two roos fighting over who was going to breed a hen and broke her neck (she was killed instantly and luckily for her, she did not suffer). Roos can be monsters sometimes.

I can't advise too much on healing such an open wound. But I will add to keep her away from other chickens until completely healed. Also, she will need to be kept out of reach of flies. They will lay eggs all over a wound like that.

How is your hen doing? Signs of shock? Is she eating, drinking? You will probably want to start vitamins and electrolytes right away.

Oh my... I'm glad to hear that she is doing well now. Whew! These chickens can make us crazy, can't they?!?!
