Hello I live in Honduras and I got 6 hens about two weeks ago. They have a 100sqf run and 2 nesting boxes and a lean-to shelter for shade. The first day they laid 3 eggs, the second day they laid 2 and every day since they've laid 1 or no eggs. I feed them store bought chicken feed but I assume it's a lower quality food so I've also been feeding them:
dried corn
mangoes
watermelon
cantaloupe
tomatoes
zuchinni
apples
pineapple
cucumber
cooked red beans
cooked oatmaeal
bread

I've been giving them chicken feed and corn daily and one or two of the other choices daily...why don't my chickens like me??!!

They could still be stressed from the move to a new home and when stressed hens do not lay well, if at all.

Can you tell us more about the chicken feed you are feeding them? Is it formulated for layers? If it's not you should offer them some oyster shell or crushed egg shell on the side so they can get the extra calcium they need for egg shell production. Also the treats and the cracked corn, though I'm sure the chickens love it, should be kept to no more than 10% of their total feed intake per day. If chickens gorge themselves on corn and treats they will eat less of the nutritious feed they need to keep them healthy and in production.

I'm not sure what is in the chicken feed here...my Spanish is not good enough to find out. It is apparently for layers. Are all of the other foods I listed considered treats?

Oh and is there another "staple" food I can give them other than chicken feed?
