Hi There! I'm still figuring out my 6 girls, and am curious if it is normal that in the grassy run area which is getting not so grassy by now, lol, they seem to scratch and burrow into the ground. They actually have little holes they are laying right in and stretching and rolling around. Very interesting to watch, but I need to know if this is okay or normal? They started laying, today is 3rd day!! Hurray for that:)
Thanks everyone - and have a great day!

They're dust bathing. Its their way of washing off dirt and bugs. It's a sign they're happy and healthy!

I am so relieved.....I was worried they might be sick or worse. Thank you so much - they do seem like happy little girls and come around me whenever I go into their run. They think I'm their mama:)

Chickens love their dirt baths! My three red sex link will bathe for hours underneath our porch stairs. There's an area of nothing but dirt and they take advantage of it. Its also where their favorite place. I actually love watching them kick dirt into their inner wings.
