my hens are good mommys

    my hens hatched eggs out and still very protective of their young after 3 months and wont lay yet how long b4 they will start laying again they are barn yard mix orange buffs should i take the 3 month olds away from the hens or just let them b

    I guess all mother hens are different. My alpha hen (the one i use to hatch) takes her little ones to the main roost at 6 weeks or so and shows no interest after 8 weeks or so. By then she is usually laying again. In conclusion - no set time before she will resume laying. Personally, i would just let her get on with things - not sure theres too much point in stressing both her and the chicks out.
