My hens are Preening. HELP!!!!!!!

Good morning everyone I have a few questions

1. is there anything else that resembles preening?
2. In your experience how long does preening last?
3. Are their any sprays or ointments or homemade remedies that can help "Cure"?

I think we need more information…preening is natural for birds. I would be more concerned if they were *not* preening themselves.

Chickens have preening sessions ime, often late afternoon before going to roost.
What exactly is it that you are concerend about?

we have a bear spot on the base of their tail. I'm concerned about that.

If there are bare spots on the back right in front of their tail and they are not molting atm (which they shouldn't at this time of the year) then there are two possibilities.
1. You have a feather picker or more than one
2. You have a rooster that keeps pulling some feathers while he is mating with the hens.

Can you take a clear in focus picture of the bare patch and post it here?
